Operation Christmas Child

This year, Rendlesham Parish Council are once again taking part in Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest children’s Christmas project, run by the Christian relief and development organisation Samaritan’s Purse.

Operation Christmas Child works by filling an empty shoebox with gifts for children in need around the world and then wrapping it and taking it to your local drop off point (St Felix Church, Rendlesham, Rendlesham Primary School or Eyke Primary School).  It is then collected and hand delivered to a child in need by the Samaritan’s Purse, asking nothing from them in return.

All shoeboxes are given to children in need, with no regard to their background or beliefs. The Samaritan’s Purse work with local partners on the ground to ensure that your gift-filled shoebox is delivered with integrity and with respect to the local culture.  We have been informed that shoeboxes from our area this year will go to children in Swaziland and Belarus.

Where culturally appropriate, booklet of Bible stories will be made available, which gives a message of hope and an explanation of the true meaning of Christmas.

We would really love the community of Rendlesham to get involved by joining the Operation Christmas Child campaign this year and bring a smile to the face of a child through a shoebox bursting with joy. Getting involved is as easy as 1-2-3 – everything you need to know is on the attached leaflet and once your shoebox is ready you can drop it off at St Felix Church, Walnut Tree Avenue or either Rendlesham or Eyke Primary School reception.

The closing date for boxes to be dropped off is Friday, 18 November 2016.

Should you have any queries or require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at the Parish Office on 01394 420207 or email.
